Cooking Someone a Meal is a Gift of Love

cooking is a gift of love

Hi, today’s blog is about how cooking is a gift of love.

If someone makes fun of somebody’s cooking, it just irritates the crap out of me, because they’re probably trying the best they can. Nothing makes me madder in the whole world than when somebody goes, “Oh my wife, she’s a horrible cook, blah, blah, blah.” Because even if she is a horrible cook, she’s spending her time doing this for you. This is not her job. It’s something she wants to do…

Wait a second. Let me back up.
Maybe she doesn’t want to, but it is something she does to feed you, to nurture you, to take care of you. Cooking is a gift of love to you. That’s how I personally show people I love them. I won’t help them move, but I’ll cook them lunch. I want to feed you and take care of you. That’s my personal expression of love.

That’s one of the reasons for me wanting to do this cooking show on YouTube, my podcast and my blog. I want to help the struggling cook have an easier time loving their family in this way.

My opinion is that nobody’s teaching you HOW to cook. I can do that. TV and internet is teaching you WHAT to cook. I also want to teach you WHY to cook. I think it’s good for your family and relationships, it’s also healthier for you and cheaper.

Cooking is about planning, timing, cooking tools, organization, and so much more.  You can learn to do it in such a way, that even if you don’t enjoy cooking, you could still make a nice meal that tastes good. I want to teach you how to cook basic things to use for a meal, basic things that you have in the cupboard, because some days you have to pull dinner out of your you-know-where. I think that no one is showing you how to put dinner on the table, hot and on time. I can help with that too.

I also want to give you menu ideas on what to have for dinner, but the recipe? I can give you some basic fun ideas, but other than that, it’s up to you to go find a recipe. Get grandma’s recipe cards, look in your cookbook and figure that out, because there’s too many resources for you that are better than anything I can do.

I was adding it up, and I have been cooking for 44 years. I am not afraid to fail sometimes.  You shouldn’t be either.  It’s the only way to learn and get take-out!

That’s the purpose of my cooking shows and website, to teach the people that don’t know how to cook, or that are just starting out.  I want to help the people that want a little help, inspiration, or those who hate to cook.

So, that is my message for today, be kind to the cook. Remember, your meal was probably made with love.
